Database management
The users can monitor the status of databases running in OwlDB, and modify, stop, delete, and specify databases as needed. The buttons allow the users to quickly perform the desired action, and the users can adjust various settings to optimize database performance. Some information may be missing if the database operational status is not Running, or if the instance status is Recovery, Disconnect.
Note
The users can go to the database management page by clicking OwlDB Console Screen > Dashboard > DB Alias.
The database management page displays the time based on the database timezone, which may differ from the user's local system time (browser time).
Veiwing database information
Go to the OwlDB console screen > Administration > Overview menu.
Click the DB Alias drop-down button to pull down the database for which the users want to view information.
View the database details.
View database details, including control files, logs, checkpoints, and whether or not it is failover.
View the configuration instance list and information.
Click the "Instance Name" to go to the 'Instance Management' page.
The users can restart one or more instances at the same time by clicking the ☑️ icon. Refer to 'Restarting an Instance'.
View database version information, system and kernel information, and patch information.
Tab provided by the BYOL licensing model.
Check the license the users are using and the assigned instance information.
The users can also see information about expired licenses.
The database operational status is as follows.
Provisioning
State of creating and setting up the server environment and database
Running
All resources are available for normal use
Changing
Specification changes are in progress
Migrating
Data migration is in progress
Stopping
Switching all resource usage to Stopped
Stopped
The state of temporarily disabling all resources (disabling resources)
Pending
State of transitioning from Stopped to Running
Terminating
The state of permanently deleting all resources and data (when finished, they cannot be accessed and recovered)
Modifying database information
Navigate to the OwlDB console screen > Administration > Overview menu.
Click the DB Alias drop-down button to pull down the database whose information the users want to modify.
Click the Edit button.
Modify the database alias and description.
Click the Save button.
Stopping and starting database
Note
The users can stop the database for up to 7 days (168 hours). If the users do not manually start it within 7 days, it will start automatically at the next time slot after 168 hours have elapsed.
Navigate to the OwlDB console screen > Administration > Overview menu.
Click the DB Alias drop-down button to pull down the databases the users want to stop and start.
Click the Stop or Start button.
Caution
The users will still be charged for provisioned storage when the users stop a database. The users will also be charged for backup storage, including manual snapshots and automatic backups within the specified retention period.
Deleting database
Navigate to the OwlDB console screen > Administration > Overview menu.
Click the DB Alias drop-down button to pull down the database the users want to delete.
Click the Delete button.
Key in 'delete' in the input box.
Click the Delete button again.
Click the OK button.
Caution
Once deleted, the database cannot be recovered and all data will be completely deleted.
